Chalet on the Lake

Good memories, I think, contributed to the reason why I set the BryonySeries in a fictional fishing village in Northern Michigan.

Just four times, my family vacationed in Michigan, and three of those times was a trip back to the same place.

We stayed at a place called Chalet on the Lake in Stevensville, Michigan. Here is an overview: https://www.michigan.org/property/chalet-lake

We stayed the July I turned eleven the week after I came back from Girl Scout camp, and I could practice my newly taught swimming skills in one of the resort's two swimming pools.

We stayed the July I turned sixteen, and my sister and I were each allowed to bring a friend (below).

On this occasion, we also went to Warren Dunes, the first and only time I've gone.

And then we stayed the July after my first son was born. 

Each time I went, more and more of the beach had disappeared. I'm assuming not much of it is left.

It seems as if many people have never heard of Chalet on the Lake.
