Slugs for a Day (NOT!)

By slight design, all members of the Core Four had Friday off work, presumbably to rest since we were working Ye Olde May Fest all weekend.

We mostly did not rest.

And that's not because we weren't tired - or because we got busy with housework. (we swore off most housework for the day).

Trust me, we were not busy with housework at all. No, it's all still waiting for us.

But you know how it goes. One thing and then another and then another and just one more thing popped up until the day ended.

Now, Friday was definitely a low-pressure day. No one was moving at top speed. We just had "stuff" to do here and there.

Still, I'm conflicted. The day off didn't happen. And now we've got all this work in the house to do.

At least half of us are working next weekend, too.

I often say that life is an adventure. Maybe the quest for a sluggish day is, too.

And life - and maybe rest, too - happens only in the moment.

You can take an entire day off from life until life is no more and all the days are gone.

This photo of two of my grandsons is six years old. The location is no longer part of our lives and one boy just graduated from high school last week.

Friday was not a sluggish day. But it wasn't a bad day. It was a productively relaxed day.

So thankful I didn't miss it.

Happy Monday!

Bertrand On The Move

It occured to me the other day that I've been relying too much on Uncle Barty to mentor the newly rejuvenated Bertrand, who, at nearly a year old now, is really not newly rejuvenated anymore.

Before original Bertrand, who eventually went to the place all toys must eventually go (even though I wasn't ready for his departure), was my constant companion; he accompanied me everywhere I went.

He was so adventurous that the friends of my children took him places, too, when he was raring to go, and I had to work.

So although Uncle Barty and Bertrand naturally spend lots of time together, I'll be gradually giving Uncle Barty a much deserved rest and letting Bertrand discover the world by tagging along with just the humans.

Because, really, the last thing I want/need is a co-dependent crocheted mouse.

Here are eight photos that show the original Bertrand on some of his pre-COVID adventures.

However, you'll have to look hard to find him in the eighth photo.

And then follow his Instagram page.

Happy Monday!

Reminder...

...in honor of the new and finally fully fuctioning BryonySeries print store, we are offering FREE shipping until at least the end of June (and potentially longer) on all print books currently listed in the store.

We are only offering it on print because that is the only part of the store that is currently in place. For eBooks, you still have to order from Amazon.

Also, since we posted our "recipe of the week" on the Sue's Diner page rather late last week, we are leaving it up one more day. Check it out here.

And finally (if only to prove I can write short posts), you might want to check out our BryonySeries calendar, which has been up and running for close to a year.

This has gone through many revisions by Timothy, so that the the visitor (YOU) could have a great experience and so that the creator (ME) could stop screwing it up behind the scenes.

But what you'll find there (again, ALL Timothy's idea) are events (when we have them again) and great activity suggestions based on the various books in the series.

Timothy set the calendar up like a vintage Advent calendar, with all the fun of, "What's behind door number..."

Some activities are aimed at youg kids, some at adults, but MOST are aimed at any age, so old and young can enjoy together.

But behind every date lies an event. And all the events on the current calendar will change next month.

For instance, check out today's event.

And have a great Monday.

Field Trip!

Heading out for a bit of drive before the work begins.

Nothing like a little adventure and family bonding to change up the work day.

Fortunately, I'm not driving, so it's a great time to catch up on email and social media.

Have a great Tuesday! :)
