The Unicorn Song - Piano Jam Cover

Anyone new to the BryonySeries blog might wonder why I post piano music on Sundays and how that fits into the BryonySeries world.

That's because one character - John Simons - was a nineteenth century world-renowned pianist and composer before he died and became a vampire.

Why this piece today?

Because of the themed activity on today's BryonySeries "Mini Activities" calendar (theme no longer applies if you're reading this any time after September 27, 2026).

And because it's super fun (especially for families or anyone who wants to see what real-life families look like)

Enjoy!

She Moved Through The Fair | Irish Traditional | Piano Cover

Since the beginning of this blog on August 1, 2010, Saturdays are days to celebrate BryonySeries author and Irish vampire character Ed Calkins, Steward of Tara, and all things Irish (as he imagines them).

This piano cover of "She Moved Through the Fair" is slow, serene, and slightly yearning.

I hope it makes you smile.

Enjoy!

What "Impossible" Looks Like

While looking up and sharing music videos with Timothy recently, I stumbled upon a video from 2023 I've since watched more than once.

The video was from a duet battle during the thirteenth season of "The Voice Germany."

"The Voice" is a singing reality competition. During the duet battle, two contestants (sometimes having the same coach) sing different parts of a song their coaches selected at the sametime.

Sometimes the the results yield some really powerful harmonies, as in this particular video.

What I really liked about this particular duet is that the peformance became so impossibly harmonious, both in vocal delivery and the way the singers synced their movements; a causual observer would find it hard to believe they had not rehearsed together.

A few "life" lessons here.

When WriteOn Joliet creates each radio play, the director makes final choice in casting and (with extremely view exceptions), the writers/performers do not speak their own pieces.

You see, the director may hear something in the table reads or conversations with the writer/performer that's perfect for such and such a role - or a hidden talent that can really be developed by reading a particular part.

Of course, one can apply that same analogy to life, where circumstances beyond our choosing and preferences shapes us into something really stunning.

You can see that in the reactions from coaches and audience.

Finally, how beautiful it is when competing interests transform into something more powerful than the individual components (like WriteOn Joliet's radio play).

Here is the link to "The Voice" video. I'm sharing the long version, which includes the judges comments.

You'll need to adjust your caption settings to English to hear the judges reactions, since they're speaking in German (except for Ronan Keating, the Irish coach who speaks - mostly - English).

By the way, the coaches advanced both contestants.

Neither contestant won the competition.

And neither contestant chose to team up for future concerts (as far as I know), which is too bad.

Because I'd certainly pay to attend an entire show featuring their voices.

Enjoy!

LOVE TRAIN, the O'Jays, PIANO play along to the song

As I previously said, I'm now dedicating every fourth Sunday on my BryonySeries Facebook page to kindness.

Because even though the BryonySeries is a phantasmic series and many books in the series have supernatural elements, B.L.O.C.K.S. - the parent brand of the BryonySeries, delivers those books with an emphasis on these two characteristics:

A spirit of community.

And kindness.

Please enjoy this fun piano accompaniment to a favorite song of mine, when I was twelve years old.

And if you're interested at finding more kindness in your life, please check out "Nine Months of Kindness."

What If “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” Were an Irish Folk Song?

Since the beginning of this blog on August 1, 2010, Saturdays are days to celebrate BryonySeries author and Irish vampire character Ed Calkins, Steward of Tara, and all things Irish (as he imagines them).

This Irish folk-style version of "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" is gentle and lovely.

I hope your day feels the same way.

Aerosmith - Dream On (Piano Cover)

Anyone new to the BryonySeries blog might wonder why I post piano music on Sundays and how that fits into the BryonySeries world.

That's because one character - John Simons - was a nineteenth century world-renowned pianist and composer before he died and became a vampire.

And why this piece today?

Because I'm featuring chapter 27 in the third book of the BryonySeries Limbo trilogy today on the BryonySeries Facebook page.

The third chapter is called "A New Lease on a Very Old Dream."

And it strangely fits into my life theme of today, this past week and the coming week, too.

No, I'm not traveling anywhere. But dreaming is a type of travel, isn't it?

That's because one character - John Simons - was a nineteenth century world-renowned pianist and composer before he died and became a vampire.

Because with all the challenges our famly's experienced, we've experienced blessings great and small, sometimes alongside the challenges, as if God's reminding us we're where we're supposed to be, and He's there beside us.

Peder B. Helland - Majestic

Today I'm sharing another piece by Peder B. Helland, a Norwegian composer whom I "discovered" on January 7, 2022, when a song on YouTube played through to this song and quite spontaneously unlocked my year-long writer's block for this BryonySeries novel.

I check his YouTube page from time to time for new selections and I saw this one yesterday. The wildlife photography is not AI (he credits the photographer's with their work) and is breathtaking on its own to make watching this piece worth your 3:23 minutes.

It reminded me of two friends who have taken safaraisand saw some of this majesty up close.

May watching it remind you how large and vast our universe really is - far beyond our own experiences - and what a great and wonderful God we serve.

Enjoy!

"Therefore The Redeemed" by Piano Praise Ministry

Anyone new to the BryonySeries blog might wonder why I post piano music on Sundays and how that fits into the BryonySeries world.

That's because one character - John Simons - was a nineteenth century world-renowned pianist and composer before he died and became a vampire.

And why this piece today?

Because we laid our senior pastor Father Boris to rest yesterday - and this was his favorite piece during "Prayer and Praise," which his church Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Homewood, offered in the late 1980s.

Peder B. Helland - Home

Since the beginning of this blog on August 1, 2010, Saturdays are days to celebrate BryonySeries author and Irish vampire character Ed Calkins, Steward of Tara, and all things Irish (as he imagines them).

While this selection is more of a Scottish arrangement than Irish, it makes a lovely background while exploring Ed's current books in his BryonySeries Ruthless series ("Ruthless," "The Fifth," "Recovering Ruthless").

Here is another piano piece by Peder B. Helland, whom I "discovered" on January 7, 2022, when a song on YouTube played through to this song and quite spontaneously unlocked my year-long writer's block for this BryonySeries novel.

This piece is Celtic-inspired, perfect for Saturdays in the BryonySeries world.

I'm sharing this piece today because I'm featuring this BryonySeries book on Facebook, and because this song came up randomly when editing a "Sam and Sue" section of the novel.

Peder B. Helland - No Worries

I discovered this Norwegian composer quite randomly when struggling with writer's block with this BryonySeries novel.

The last few weeks have been extremely full with event preparation, moving, unpacking, a few marathon work weeks, and the long-awaited visit to a GI specialist yesterday.

It's raining in my part of the world today; maybe it is in yours?

Either way, I hope the music and its rain sounds provide you peace in your journey today.

Enjoy!

Pianist in tears!!!. Most moving piano performance

Anyone new to the BryonySeries blog might wonder why I post piano music on Sundays and how that fits into the BryonySeries world.

That's because one character - John Simons - was a nineteenth century world-renowned pianist and composer before he died and became a vampire.

The description for this music vide reads, "Pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii bursts into tears when he plays at Carnegie Hall his own composition "Elegy for the Victims of the Tsunami of March 11, 2011, in Japan.”

If you've never heard of this pianist, you should also know he was born blind.

One of the comments asked, "Is there anyone from 2026 who is still listening to this masterpiece?"

Well, we are.

I'm so thankful I stumbled upon this piece.

I hope it blesses you today.
