Peder B. Helland - No Worries

Anyone new to the BryonySeries blog might wonder why I post piano music on Sundays and how that fits into the BryonySeries world.

That's because one character - John Simons - was a nineteenth century world-renowned pianist and composer before he died and became a vampire.

Here is another piano piece by Peder B. Helland, whom I "discovered" on January 7, 2022, when a song on YouTube played through to this song.

I sat on the bed next to my calico Faith and petted her, while the music quite spontaneously locked my year-long writer's block for this BryonySeries novel.

This is evocative piece fits the essense of "Call of the Siren," as well as chapter 23 of  "House on Top of the Hill," which is called "Rain."

Not all "Flooding" is Bad

So I've mentioned briefly the struggles in making any sort of significant progress on the second novel in the new BryonySeries Limbo trilogy Call of the Siren.

We just recently released the first book in the series. It's called The Phoenix and you can buy it in the BryonySeries store and also on Amazon in print and Kindle.

But words for this second book just weren't flowing. 

I have a detailed outline and plenty of ideas. I've done character sketches and mentally wrote quote a few scenes. I see the story, I know the story. Heck, I even have the cover art!

But the words wouldn't come easily.

Until this past weekend.

You know the fairy tale about the little boy who stops a flood by placing his finger inside a whole in the dam?

Well, in this case, it was as if the boy had removed it.

And all the ideas and words spilled out.

I may not get much done this weekend (second COVID shot is Thursday).

But I feel confident that the muse is active and ready to write, once I have the time and ability.

Covid, Creativity (And One Last Mother's Day Gift)

Before we skip to the covid news I posted over the last week, I want you to know I had one of the quietest, and yet productive on the creative scale, weekends I've had in a very long time.

I wrote one new chapter in The Phoenix and one new chapter in Lycanthropic Summer  (both new titles in the BryonySeries) and reworked several in each over twelve hours on Saturday and part of Sunday, all the while listening to the rain.

Then I spent Sunday afternoon going through a good deal of my work email that has built up to the point I couldn't find anything pertinent anymore, all the while listening to the rain.

Towards evening, Jasmine dropped off one lat Mother's Day gift (an oversize T-shirt tribute to the fact I'm mother to a few four-footed creatures)

and a really dark (mmmmm) dark roast coffee from Brewed Awakening.

I know I'm a long ways from retirement, but...

...is this what retirement is like?
