Good morning!
Eight members of WriteOn Joliet will present “Shades of Noir." an original radio theater production, at 2 and 7 p.m. April 18 at the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park Theatre in Joliet.
And in that spirit, I present to you a recipe for Coffee Noir.
Coffee Noir? Yep!
Now Coffee Noir, is simply the repurposed coffee recipe featured in the Simons Mansion in Memories in the Kitchen: Bites and Nibbles From "Bryony" which benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties.
But its basic recipe was used at least until 1949, as the explainer for the use and a clip from the 1949 noir boxing film "The Set Up" shows.
And coffee - and the coffee siphon in particular - is a necessary elixir in so many movie scenes, especially and including noir.
You can try our recipe for Coffee Noir on the Sue's Diner page on the BryonySeries website.
But try the recipe this week. It will be gone some time next week. A new recipe will take it's place.
If you have any troubleshooting questions or comments, email us at bryonyseries@gmail.com.
And if Coffee Noir is getting you in the mood for noir in general, especially "Shades of Noir," you should known admission to the production is just $5.
More show details are below this noir-ish cup of coffee.
And remember: "Eggs in your coffee!"

And finally...
Sue's Diner is only real in the BryonySeries world (although it would make a great setting for a noir film). But didn't Timothy do a great job making the page look like a real menu at a vintage diner?
Here is the full diner page: bryonyseries.com/sue-s-diner-food. You can't really order, of course (wouldn't it be great if you could?).
