Ice cream was John
Simons’ one, particular culinary weakness. Each lunch at Simons Mansion
ended with a dish of it.
Strawberry Ice Cream
Adapted from Miss
Beecher’s domestic receiptbook: designed as a supplement to her Treatise on
domestic economy.
1 pint ripe strawberries
1 pint cream
4 ounces powered sugar
Rub strawberries through a sieve, add cream, then sugar.
Freeze.
