Clutching her skirts, Melissa stalked away. Several older ladies from
church were discussing the latest corsets, so Melissa decided to join them.
Henry Matthews, plate in hand, followed like an obedient puppy. He placed her
food before her, sat beside her, and offered a glass. “I brought you an ice.”
