A comparison of two great versions of my favorite work of Henry James, which I first read as a seventh-grader, on my own, not in school. While some critics dismissed Dan Curtis' version as "campy," I thought Jasper Jacobs' semi-erotic portrayal of Miles was outstanding and enhanced the latent sexual themes - the governess' fascination with Miles - in James' original work.
